HOW TO REPAIR PHILIPS 20 DV6942/37 [Service Mode, Error Code and Fault finding]

ComPair (Computer Pairing)
ComPair [Computer Aided Repair], is a service tool for Philips customer electronic products.
ComPair is a development on European DST [service mode control], which allows faster and more accurate diagnostics.  This has three big advantages.
ComPair helps you quickly get an understanding about how to repair the chasis in a short time by guiding you systematically through the repair procedures.
ComPair allows very detailed diagnostics on I2C level, and is therefore capable of accurately indicating problem areas.  You do not have to know anything about I2C commands yourself, because ComPair take care of this.
ComPair speeds up the repair time since it can automatically communicate with the chasis, when the microprocessor is working, and all repair information are directly available.  When ComPair is installed together the Force-32 electronic manual of the defective chasis, schematics and PCBs are only a mouse click away.
ComPair consists of a Windows based fault finding program, and an interface box between PC and the defective product.  The ComPair interface box is connected to the PC via a serial RS232 cable. In case of M-133 chasis, the Compair interface box and the TV communicate via a bi-directional service cable via the service connector. The ComPair fault finding program is able to determine the problem of the television.  ComPair can gather diagnostic information in two ways.
Automatic
ComPair can automatically read out the contents of the entire error buffer.  It diagnosises fault by accessing the I2C level.  ComPair can send and recieve I2C commands to the microcontroller of the television.  In this way, it is possible for ComPair to communicate to the devices on the I2C bus lines of the TV.
Manually
Automatic diagnosis is only possible if the TV microcomputer is working at a certain level.  When this is not the case, ComPair will guide you through fault finding tree, by asking questions. [example: Does the screen give a picture?.  Click on correct answer Yes/No; and showing you examples;  example; measure P202 and click and click on the correct oscillogram you see in the oscilloscope].  You can answer by clicking on a link (eg; text or waveform picture), that will bring you to the next step in the fault finding process.
  By a combination of automatic diagnostics and an interactive question/answer procedure ComPair will enable you to find most problems in a fast and effective way. Beside fault finding, ComPair provides some additional features like;
Up or downloading of presets:
Managing of preset lists:
If both ComPair and Force-32 (Electronic Service Manual) are installed, all schematics abd PCBs of the set are available by clicking on appropriate hyperlink.
HOW TO CONNECT
First install the ComPair Browser Software before connecting ComPair to M133DVD.  In the M133 DVD you can only diagnose the TV.  Always start diagnosis by connecting the ComPair tool to TV set.
  1. Connect the RS232 interface cable between a free serial  port of your PC, and the PC connector of the ComPair interface.
  2. Connect the mains adapter to the supply connector on the ComPair interface.
  3. Switch the ComPair interface OFF.
  4. Switch the TV Off.
  5. Connect the ComPair interface cable [3122 785 90004] between the connector on the rear side of the ComPair interface, marked I2C, and the ComPair connector 0217 on the mono carrier.  Contd:  Universal Remote Control Codes, Setup procedure, Circuit diagrams and more ....
